Warrants charge 19-year-old with murder at Norfolk motel

NORFOLK

Police have obtained warrants charging a 19-year-old with murder and attempted robbery in the shooting death of a man at the Americas Best Value Inn on Military Highway in September.

The warrants also charge Ryan Nelson Johns, who also uses the nickname Ryder, with using a gun during a felony, police wrote in a news release. His address is unknown, but he is known to visit the Norview area of the city.

On Sept. 4, Adam Terrell Harris, 21, was in the parking lot of the inn at 235 N. Military when he was approached by a man and shot, police said. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johns is described as black with short hair and light facial hair, according to police. He is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 172 pounds.
