Cuccinelli plans new legal action against EPA

Posted to: Environment News Virginia

RICHMOND

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli plans to appeal in court new automobile fuel efficiency standards announced by the Environmental Protection Agency for passenger vehicles built from 2012 through 2016.

That appeal is linked to a previous challenge Cuccinelli initiated over federal environmental findings that greenhouse gas emissions pose a public health threat.

Cuccinelli believes that conclusion is flawed because “the reports the EPA was relying on for its decision contained erroneous . . . or unverifiable” information about global warming, spokesman Brian Gottstein wrote in an e-mail.

Thank you

Thank you thank you thank you

I hope you are our next governor, it is so refreshing to see someone actually value the constitution and take the oath to defend the constitution seriously. Thank you.

Only three months in this with this guy and i'm tired of him

"Cuccinelli believes that conclusion is flawed because “the reports the EPA was relying on for its decision contained erroneous . . . or unverifiable” information about global warming"

O.K., fun time's over Mr Cuccinelli. You're into the deep end now and the next step is to be the punch line of late night comedy shows. A basic science lesson could have saved you before self destructing with this political lawsuit. See how you're politicizing the AG's office and employees?

You don't have any idea how silly you are making Virginians look like to the rest of the country with publicity stunts like this lawsuit, paid for by taxpayers. Some will like your pandering because they are easily swayed with fear and the unknown.

This from our AG, the same day Governor McDonnell signs clean energy incentives for wind power in Virginia waters.

Schizophrenic.

Proof

This man is using his office and the state's money to advance his own personal belief system. Isn't there some kind if statute about using public funds for personal business? Between He and Mickey D, I'm reminded of the twins in Alice in Wonderland.

You either with us, or again us.

Virginia is for louvers.

Bring on the crazy train.

I don't like this guy

First its health care for those who need it. Now it's cleaner land, air and water.

Few are against these things

I know of almost no one that is against providing health care or who is against clean air and water but it is how we go about these things that is where we disagree.

Circumventing the public process and allowing the EPA to write regulations without any input from elected officals or the public and then burdening states to enforce these regulations without funds to do so is simply not appropriate.

As for health care the federal governement is forcing the states to cover large numbers of citizens under medicaid and developing new insurance regualtions that are yet more unfunded mandates the fed has dumped on the states.

Excuse me, Russ

This rule was required by legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by Pres Bush in 2007. It went through an extensive EPA rulemaking process: rule drafted after input from environmental and industry experts; preliminary rule published in the Federal Register and left open for public comment for at least six months; public meetings were held; hundreds of public comments were received; and the final rule was published in the Federal Register with responses to all public comments addressed. The Federal Register is available on line and at the larger public libraries. It's not the most interesting reading in the world, but those of you who like to criticize the "process" ought to familiarize yourself with how the process actually works.

Ah, but it is good

to see that the usual liberal complainers are out in force to disparage an AG that is willing to stand up for the rights of the citizens of his state. At least this AG does not appear to be the type to just roll over and allow the Obama train to wreck in his backyard like some think we should all do. Oh yes, just accept everything Barry says or concocts with his federal band of outright criminals as gospel and live with it? Nope. Is it November yet?

He represents the Commonwealth of Virginia

If he wants to be the U.S. Attorney General, let him try. Right now he's supposed to be working to benefit Virginians not go around yelling at people outside his jurisdiction. Stop wasting our $

EPA

Guess all of you progressives believe that global warming is a fact, wake up it's a hoax, all of these regulations are designed to control every aspect of our lives, the AG should be commended for taking a stand against the federal takeover, from reading some of the blogs it is apparent that some of you don't realize just how much personal freedom has been lost in this country. As I watched the evening news there was a female reporter explaining the more people counted in the census will ensure more Tax dollars I guess she thinks the money just appears, am sorry to say our children and grand children will pay for all this mess.
