New director appointed to N.C. Ferry Division

Posted to: Traffic - Transportation North Carolina

Harold "Buddy" Finch has been appointed director of the North Carolina Ferry Division, the state announced this month.

Finch, a retired Coast Guard commanding officer, succeeds Jack Cahoon, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

"I'm extremely pleased to be reunited with the maritime community," Finch said in a statement from the state Department of Transportation.

The NCDOT Ferry Division employs about 500 people and serves seven routes along the coast, including the busy route between Hatteras and Ocracoke islands.

Finch will start work May 3, the statement said.
