Southeastern District tournament
Semifinals at Grassfield Today – No. 2 seed Hickory (8-5-3) vs. No. 3 seed Oscar Smith (10-4-2), 5:30 p.m.; No. 1 seed Great Bridge (13-1-2) vs. No. 4 seed Indian River (10-4-2), 7:30 p.m.
Championship Thursday at Grassfield, 7:30 p.m.
Fast facts Great Bridge allowed a district-low five goals, while Indian River led the league in scoring, averaging five goals a game — so something has to give. The Braves also handed the top seed its sole loss almost a month ago. Oscar Smith’s Richard Diaz led South Hampton Roads in scoring with 28 goals, including two tallies in a 2-2 tie against Hickory during the regular season. Don’t be fooled by the Hawks’ record; their out-of-district schedule is one of the toughest in the area.
