Police identify man hit, killed by car in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH

A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed early this morning at the Oceanfront.

Travis Jay Wilson, 34, of the 1300 block of Cypress Avenue, was not crossing the street at an intersection or crosswalk when he was struck by a 2002 Acura 3.2 TLS, police said. Alcohol use by Wilson was likely a factor in the 2:10 a.m. incident in the 300 block of 22nd St., police said.

The driver has not been charged.

The death comes two weeks after a school teacher was killed trying to cross Shore Drive, the 10th fatality on that road in the last eight years.
