Tourists, Va. Beach club settle assault suit

VIRGINIA BEACH

Two tourists have settled lawsuits with an Oceanfront club and bouncers who they say assaulted them.

Habib and Haroon Marzi filed $1.35 million lawsuits in 2009. The cousins said they were injured in an attack at what was then known as Crazy Charlie's at 21st Street and Atlantic Avenue on Aug. 5, 2007.

A bartender and three bouncers named in the suits pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct or assault and battery in connection with the incident. They suspected Habib Marzi had stolen the bartender's tip jar, according to court records.

Attorneys in the case said the settlements were confidential.

Richard A. Saunders, who represented Crazy Charlie's and its parent company, The Block Inc., said the company's insurance company settled it. They admitted no liability.

Daniel Schieble, who represented the Marzis, said: "It was resolved to their satisfaction."
