Ex-Hokie is indoor football league MVP

Posted to: Sports

Quarterback Bryan Randall, who led Virginia Tech to the 2004 ACC championship, has been named the Indoor Football League’s 2010 most valuable player as a rookie for the Richmond Revolution.

Randall threw for 2,033 yards, rushed for 374 yards and accounted for 70 total touchdowns during the regular season, leading the Revolution to a league-best 13-1 record. The team begins its playoff run tonight against the Rochester Raiders at 7:05 in Richmond’s Arthur Ashe Center.

The Revolution, a start-up club in the 25-team league, took home two other annual awards from the IFL: franchise of the year and coach of the year for Steve Criswell.

The team also features former Bayside High and James Madison University star Eugene Holloman, who has rushed for 296 yards (4.6 per carry) and six touchdowns in just seven games since joining the team mid-season. Former Tallwood High and JMU quarterback Rodney Landers, who plays a hybrid role for the Revolution, has rushed for 111 yards, caught 24 passes for 211 yards, returned 12 kicks for 149 yards and accounted for eight total touchdowns.

The defense is led by former Western Branch High and Virginia Tech linebacker Vince Hall, who has 60 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble in 10 games since signing with the Revolution.
