Lack of change at Andy Boy’s Pizza is a good thing

Andy Boy's seems almost hidden in Stonebridge Plaza, but regular customers know they will always find delicious food there. If you try the pizza, you may become a regular, too.

I asked owner George Houpos what was new. George said he hasn't "changed anything in 22 years, and it's still obviously working."

People enjoy the family friendly atmosphere. George said he has been surprised at the children who enjoy playing Ms. Pac-Man. The game is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

I especially love the crust on these pizzas. The pan pizza crusts are made at the restaurant. Because crust is bread, it can't be hurried in the process and still taste good. Andy Boy's is true pan pizza; the crust is allowed to rise twice before the sauce is added. Experience in making delicious food speaks softly and cannot be denied.

George features other foods such as calzones, which are turnovers shaped like a crescent and usually filled with pizza toppings like ricotta, salami and mozzarella.

Among the authentic Greek salads, lasagna, spaghetti and subs listed on the menu, there is also stromboli. If you haven't tried that, it's similar to a calzone and filled with various cheese, meat or vegetables. (There's a good bit of debate about the difference between a calzone and stromboli.)

For dessert, you can have Baklava or several varieties of cheesecake.

I don't get there often but

I always enjoy it when I go.

Love that tacky and likely

Love that tacky and likely illegal banner hanging (or should we say sagging) from the sign. I thought VB had sign rules.

It's not in VB

It's in the Western Branch section of Chesapeake.

It's all good

My son's little league baseball team had a team party there. Nice food. Nice place. Nice people.

The best crust - ever

I am delighted to see Andy Boys still in business after all these years. I am also pleased to see the shop getting some publicity because their parking lot looks awfully empty on nights that you think it would be busy! Andy Boys pizza crust is absolutely delicious, like it always has been! I haven't found anything like it anywhere else. In my opinion, Spaghetti Eddies doesn't come close to Andy Boys! (Try the Mediterranean pie with feta, onions, and olives!)

We've been going to Andy

We've been going to Andy Boy's for over 10 years-almost every Friday night! We love the family atmosphere and feel we really get value for our $'s. Don't change a thing, George (except, maybe, bring back draft beer?)!!!

Spaghetti Eddies

Andy Boy's is good and we still frequent there occassionally. My wife really likes their greek salad, but most of our visits are now made to Spaghetti Eddie's. Good food, good service, and I feel that the prices are reasonable.

Bring your checkbook

Food is ok, but very expensive for what you get. My wife and I ate lunch there and had two small subs and drinks and the bill was over $20. Looked around and we were the only people there. I understand why...

Price.

Everything is relative and for Mom and Pop shops that do not have the big Corporate buying power you pay for the heart and soul being there, product that is prepared in house not pre proscessed and shipped in.
You also have the knowledge that they truelly appreciate your patronage. Please do not forget the City taxing 6.5% and the State taxing 5% (11.5%) on prepared foods.

Relative

Your point has some validity; however, as a consumer in this economy...I will spend my dollar where it goes farther.
