60 YEARS AGO | On June 25, 1950, North Korean forces, trained and armed by the Soviets, invaded the South to “liberate’’ it. The invaders overwhelmed the U.S.-trained South Korean troops and quickly captured the capital of Seoul.
Despite the infusion of U.S. and other United Nations ground troops that summer, South Korean and U.N. forces were pushed to the far southeastern corner of the peninsula around the port of Pusan.

Korea was the 1st of the political wars. How many remember " Operation Clam up"? February 10 -20 1951 No offense action against the enemy no H&I artillery, no patrols, no air cap, no OYs, no air strikes, courts marshalled for "firing on the Enemy" "make them see what peace would be like". 10 days for them to probe our lines & resupply. I lost 4, good 18 year old men on the 19th to this idiotic pipe dream! Who ever dreamed up this Operation up was the same group of idiots who decided to split 10 Corps & the 8th Army by the Taebaek Mountains. Remember these were impassable till the Chinese used them like route 64 to hit us on our flanks & rear. Speaking of the Chinese MacArthur & his "Batan Gang" should have been hung out to dry for this debalacle, of course they weren't. Because "they" said the Chinese wouldn't enter it was a fact. They wouldn't have known a Chinese if one was in their back pocket & had a fire lit cooking Rice. Tell of how in the later part of the war "hills" were taken , retake, taken for the purpose of convincing the North Koreans/ Chinese that we were committed to prosecuting the War.Ie: Congressional Statement. the Koreans remember
I served in the Army in 1971 in Korea with the 40th TOPO and while on a mission into the countryside my squad stayed in a small village in the middle of the country above the 38th parallel. The first night of the week long stay the elders of the village approached us and told us our money was no good, and they were hosting us since we were the first US Army unit to coming into the village since the 1953. They said “When you were last here they were too poor to thank the Army for freeing them from the North and now they could thank us for that and the honor the men who died freeing them”. So for the whole week that I was there we couldn’t buy a meal, drink or anything else. I was much honored to receive this gift from the people of Korea and I want to pass this on to the guys who earn this honor I was luck to receive.

No one doubts the Chinese and N.Koreans were horrible to prisoners in Korea. Nor does anyone doubt that the Japanese and Germans were horrible in WWII or that the N. Vietnamese were horrible in Vietnam. But all POTUS's since these wars have opened up communications to these countries and now some are close allies. You do realize that the Chinese started buying our debt years ago..long before Obama took office. And Obama has always supported pay increases, benefit increases, proper equipment, etc for the military. Point to me where he has not been supportive of the military. As for the communist moniker...someone in the Obama hating crowd has to make their mind up what he is: for some he is a Nazi/Hitler; for others he is a communist, for even others he is a socialist. Can't be all those things in reality, which makes one come to the conclusion he is none of them. You hate him, fine. But when you really look at what he has done he is not taking the road towards anything like communism, nazism, etc.

You don't have to say out loud you hate someone, it can be very clear by the language used. And the very strong language you used infers you dislike him intensely. The rest of your statement is emotional filled but fact challenged. You say everything he says is a lie. Anybody can say that about anyone. As for apologizing. What did he do but say on a couple instances that we made errors in judgement in how we conducted our policies on the wars. Is that not the truth? Did we not attack Iraq on false intel? Did we not make some monumental blunders that cost lives over there? It is easy to make mistakes but hard to admit them. But not to admit to them means we may not learn from them. As for him being intent on destroying us...what proof do you have? What has he done to destroy this country? As for you father..I have and always will honor our military members. My family is chock full of them. And I am awake and fully aware that reason and logic have gone bye-bye in political discourse. Emotions fueled by partisan hatred have taken over.

trouble: newsflash, politics is mostly emotion--but knowing that doesn't make a leader bad--rationality suits the engineer, but the engineer is usually controlled by politics (ask Albert Speer).
Obama's Vietnam
trouble, Obama is the one who has not learned from history. Remember he campaigned on "Afghanistan is the right war, the good war" and you know what--Afghanistan is Obama's Vietnam. He hasn't learned. He's a ambitious Chicago politician and NOTHING more--I knew him (talked to him about School Choice) when he was an IL state Senator (who won the office unopposed because he knocked his opponent off the ballot by finding irregularities in the opponent's petitions--typical Chicago trick.) I ran for School Board and was top vote getter and the same Chicago Democratic machine came to my suburb and attacked me. Folks who voted for Obama just did not understand him, his past or his associations which he has brought to the white house. Obama also won his US Senate seat--virtually unopposed when his campaign director David Axel Rod goaded the Chicago Tribune into opening the "sealed" divorce papers to expose his opponent, Republican Jack Ryan (did you ever hear of flattering or character enhancing divorce papers?). Remember, the Chicago Democrats elect politicians who go to jail.... last governor, current governor on trial--start reviewing your history... Chicago history that is if yo

I think Obama just wants to do as much of the socialist agenda as possible in one term, and to "he--" with the second term...rather be a radical change agent and make a big impact (never mind it's a bad impact) that actually govern and deserve/earn a second term! Kamikazee president!

First, I did not put words in your mouth. You said in your own words pretty clearly that you think he is..well you know. As for your long diatribe, that is the most conspiracy laden line of stuff I have read in a long time. I see now what I am dealing with. Go ahead and believe all you want to believe in whatever dark shadows you see everywhere. I tried reason and all you gave me was news media, Obama, Dems, and all manner of other characters that are supposedly everywhere planning the downfall of the country. There is no reasoning with this line of thinking...none at all. I can rebut every single point you made with sound information not conjecture, but I would be talking to myself I am sure. So, I am glad you have nothing more to say as you have nothing more I want to read. No hard feelings here and I hope you don't have any either, but we do need to part on this issue. BTW, I am not a Dem or a Repub and I usually split my voting ticket. Voted for Reagan, Bush I, and numerous R's along with many D's, so I am no partisan.

I would like to give my thanks to all the veterans of the Korean War. My father was drafted into the Army but decided to go into the Navy where he served on the Destroyer John R. Pierce. Thanks to all soldiers, salors, and Marines who served proudly and honorably.
