BLACKSBURG

Get your popcorn ready. As if Virginia Tech's opening game against Boise State on Labor Day night - a match-up of likely top-10 teams - wasn't big enough already, now you can watch it in 3-D.

The ACC announced Thursday that ESPN's new three-dimensional broadcast technology will be used to showcase three of the league's teams in as many weeks to start this season. Those will be the network's first three such broadcasts.

The lineup starts with the Hokies-Broncos showdown at 8 p.m. Sept. 6 at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.

That's followed by Miami's game at Ohio State at 3:40 p.m. Sept. 11 and the Clemson game at Auburn at 7 p.m. Sept. 18.

The league also announced that this year's ACC championship game, which will be played in Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium at 7:45 p.m. Dec. 4, will be televised by ESPN in 3-D.

Just as its players will soon be jumping off your TV screen, the ACC hopes its on-field product is ready to stand out this fall. With five or six teams positioned for national ranking when the games begin, this is a season of great expectation for an oft-criticized league.

Isn't one of these new 3D

Isn't one of these new 3D TV's required to watch the game in HD 3D? I don't even have a HDTV.

Big deal

Just what i want to do, watch a team and school that has never won a national championship in any sport. Didn't een win the weakest leauge in the country last year.

Mr. Intelligence

That is intelligent on your part. Both teams still top ten, but guess you Cavalier fans know all about good football!!

hell yeah

if i cant make the game in d.c i will def be in front of a tv that has the 3d thing , go hokies !!!!!!!!

GREAT!

I'm looking forward to this. I can't be at the game but watching it at home will be even more exciting now. This will likely be a push for Tech recruiting as well.
