McDonnell's travels, international and domestic

An optimistic-sounding Gov. Bob McDonnell Thursday told reporters the discussions he's had during this week's trade mission to Europe could yield several business deals for the state in the coming months.

The excursion has taken McDonnell from the Netherlands, to England and Germany at a cost to taxpayers of $80,000-$90,000; past governors have gone on similar trips to market the state's wares and as a location for companies looking to expand or relocate.

On an afternoon conference call, McDonnell said he's met with potential investors in Virginia, private sector partners and leaders of Europeans companies that currently have a presence in Virginia.

In addition, the governor said he met with officials about the offshore wind investment some countries on the continent have made.

McDonnell's journey won't be over when he returns, however.

Next Tuesday, the governor is scheduled to attend a Washington, D.C. fundraiser for U.S. Senate candidate Dino Rossi, a Republican from Washington (the state).

It's another sign that Republicans, sensing blood in the water, are not only targeting a takeover of the U.S. House of Representatives from Democrats in the midterm election, but also eyeing a possible Senate majority.

McDonnels silver bullet

Kenneth T. Cuccinelli, II, has the potential to ruin the Governor. If this crazy nut continues with his obsessive crazed behavior, it will be headline news. Just a bomb waiting to explode in McDonnell's face.
