One person was taken to the hospital after a fire in the kitchen of an apartment in the 5300 block of E. Princess Anne Road this morning.
A resident, who was not identified, was transported to the hospital. The extent of the person's injuries was not available this morning, said Norfolk Fire Department Battalion Chief Harry Worley. The resident may have jumped from a first-floor window to escape the fire, Worley said.
Reports of the fire came in from a resident of the apartment about 5:02 a.m., as did a second call from a passerby at around the same time. An incorrect address in the second call led to fire fighters being sent to that location, Worley said.
Fire fighters were still on the scene around 6 a.m., Worley said. A cause is under investigation.
