Pilot OK after emergency landing in Isle of Wight

ISLE OF WIGHT

A Newport News man was unhurt when he made an emergency landing in a glider on Friday after its battery caught fire.

Michael Creamer, 63, took off from Garner Airport in central Isle of Wight County and made an emergency landing on Iron Mine Springs Road at 2:55 p.m., said Sgt. Michelle Anaya of Virginia State Police.

No charges will be filed, she said.
