Rusty Wallace apologizes for comment at Kyle Busch during Nationwide race
ESPN broadcaster Rusty Wallace apologized Monday for an expletive he directed toward Kyle Busch during Friday night's Nationwide broadcast from Chicagoland Speedway. The comment could be heard after Busch finished his Victory Lane interview.
Said Wallace in a statement from ESPN: “At the end of Friday night’s telecast, I made an unfortunate remark regarding Kyle Busch. There’s no excuse and I certainly know better. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to everyone including Kyle for my mistake.”
The Victory Lane interview is here (and Wallace's comment can be heard at the end).
Wallace made the comment after Busch referenced the fans who booed him after he won the race. Wallace then can be heard uttering a one-word comment.
An ESPN spokesman said the network would not suspend Wallace for the comment and stated: "ESPN has spoken to Rusty and he understands his remark was uncalled for.''

Go Rusty tell them like it is!!!!
All the annoucers act like Kyle Bush is the best race car driver there ever was, well he isn't. I get so sick of hearing his name during a race i could scream they act like he is the only driver on the track. I have news for him he will never be as good as Dale Earnhardt Sr. or Richard Petty just to name a few. I wish Dale Sr. was still alive he would put him in his place. At least one of the annoucers calls like he sees it. And Kayle Bush needs to remember that the fans are what makes this sport cause if there was no fans he wouldn't be racing. he needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and act like a man instead like a 2 year old. I don't think that Rusty Wallce should have been ask to apolize to him, if anything someone should have taken him out and bought him a steak dinner.
Way to go Rusty
Excuse my spelling errors, LOL!
Way to go Rusty
It's about time someone other than the fans finally realize what Kyle is all about. I get soooo tired of the commentators bragging on Kyle during every single race, I almost don't want to watch them anymore. Rusty should be congrtulated, no scolded!!!!
I never agree with rusty...but.....
He just spoke what most all fans of racing right now think. Here's Kyle who has won ANOTHER race, and what's he do....calls out the fans for boo'ing him for being what he just proved to be once again!!! He deserves his boo's, he works hard for them. I salute Rusty for doing what NASCAR and Mr Gibbs should have done long ago, wake this idiot up and remind him what he does for a living, who he drives for and who are the most important people in the sport...THE FANS!!!
Can't hear it
What did he say, I can't make it out?
An expletive, a synonym for
"stupid donkey."
Kudo's to Rusty for actually
Kudo's to Rusty for actually saying something that made sense!! Thanks for the info!
Add in Hamlin
Busch and Hamlin are two of the Juvenile delinquents in the Joe Gibbs organization. Longano is being trained to make it a threesome. I'm for anybody but them.
Hamlin, Bush
Yeah but one thing you can say about Joey Longano is that it is sad that he is the youngest one of the three and still acts older than either one of them. Now the comments about Delanie Harvick that he made a few weeks ago was uncalled for. Maybe Joe Gibbs needs to train Joey to be different. That would be best thing for him.
Why apologize?
He pretty much echoed the feelings of 99.97% of actual Nascar fans LOL
