Duck tape?
I'm just curious: What is duck tape? I've heard of duct tape, but never the duck variety.
This product
was originally called Duck Tape (in the 40s) because water rolled off it like water rolled off a duck's back.
Brand
Duck Tape is a brand of duct tape.

The organizers of this event likely emphasize the brand because people are making boats (which float on water, like ducks.) We capitalized the word "Duck Tape" in this article so people would know we are referring to the brand.
