Breon Key

We'll have more on ODU's first 2011 commitment online later and in Thursday's Pilot.

Meanwhile, here are a couple of quotes from Phoebus coach James Daniel on Breon Key, the 6-2 guard who will join the team for the 2011-12 season.

"He reminds me of a smaller version of Ben Finney. His strength right now is his defense. He likes to get after it."

"Last year, as a junior, he was our top defender. Whoever the best player we faced, he'd get assigned that job."

"He runs the point, is a great team player, gets the team involved."

ON HIS DECISION:

"I think the biggest thing right now is that ODU has cemented themselves as a national contender, capable of playing with the big boys. They can play with anybody and beat anybody."

Key played linebacker on the Phoebus football team last year and is expected to play receiver and cornerback this year. He chose ODU over Virginia Commonwealth.
