Day Late and a Dollar Short

Sorry - Chicago Tribune, not times.

Day Late and a Dollar Short

Has anyone noticed that conservatively slanted media outlets are flourishing while liberal media outlets are tanking? I mean, maybe it's the fact that conservatives have jobs and money, and most liberals are on the public till. The Daily Press, even now, could thrive if they would be as conservative as they have been liberal. Check out the Wall Street Journal - any problems there? Ah but the New York Times, Chicago Times etc. etc. - not so good eh? Fox thrives while MSNBC slowly starves. Conservatives thrive on facts - liberals thrive on emotion. All that aside,I do hope they send Tamara Dietrich packing. But then again Obama would certainly want her as a cabinet member.

Uh ... wha?

Speaking of "thriving on facts" -- the Chicago Tribune is one of the most reliably conservative daily newspapers in America, and always has been. It's easily as conservative as the WSJ. If it's having problems, it's not due to a lack of conservatism. (I read them both daily.)

Meantime, The Washington Times, by far *the* most conservative newspaper in America, is flat on its face. Where it once had national distribution well into 6 figures, its circulation is down to about 42,000 and they have but 70 employees left. That would make it far smaller than the Virginian-Pilot. It is currently up for sale and the Moonies have quit subsidizing it.

If you wanna buy it, I'm sure they let you make a downpayment with your MasterCard. ... ;-)

I Agree

The Pilot is in pretty sad shape and could indeed use a makeover, starting with new editorial leadership and some quality improvements.

There needs to be a shake up at the Pilot as well.

There needs to be a shake up at the Pilot as well.

The man's retiring, for goodness sakes!

Where did this say anything about a shakeup? The Tribune Company has been bleeding the Daily-Press dry since the minute they bought it. Reorganizing the management structure means reducing people, not changing the paper's point of view. There are so few reporters over there anymore that people on the Peninsula are lucky to have any reliable local news at all.
