A Virginia Beach man will serve two and a half years for a drunken driving wreck that injured his girlfriend.
A judge sentenced Michael Brandon Walck to 12 months for drunken driving. The judge also sentenced him to five years for felony hit and run, then suspended three and a half years of that time.
According to police, Walck lost control of his car in October and ran into a ditch on Sandbridge Road. After the crash, he ran from the scene, police said. He left his girlfriend trapped in waist-deep water, according to police. She was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with an injury to her leg.
