Green Run 34, No. 9 Salem 14
Tequan Mayfield scored three touchdowns – one on offense, defense and special teams – as the Stallions upset the SunDevils in a Beach District game Friday night at the Sportsplex.
Green Run (3-2) blocked a punt on Salem’s first possession, and Dre’Quez Lambert punched it in from 2 yards out, giving the Stallions an early lead.
Green Run scored on its next two possessions and led 21-0 with 10 minutes left in the second quarter.
After Salem (3-2) pulled within 14 in the third quarter, Mayfield returned a kickoff 93 yards to replenish the 21-point lead.
Mayfield sealed the SunDevils’ fate in the fourth quarter by intercepting Temuchin Hodges and returning it 57 yards for his third touchdown.

Churchland 38, No. 5 Booker T. Washington 27
The Truckers rushed for more than 300 yards to rebound from back-to-back blowout losses and hand the Bookers their first defeat in the Eastern District opener for both teams.
Churchland (2-2) was led by Cedric Cradle, who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown and also had a late interception to help seal the victory.
Marvell Edmundson’s 106 yards gave the Truckers two 100-yard rushers on the night.
The Bookers (3-1) stayed in the game with big plays that resulted in all four touchdowns.
Bookers wide receiver Lafayette Smallwood caught just two passes, but gained 157 yards and scored TDs on each one.
With 50 seconds left Churchland’s Matthew Stanek kicked a 47-yard field goal with 50 seconds left for the final margin.

Kellam 21, Tallwood 20
Gunnar Kane threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Chris Holloman with 25 seconds left as the Knights survived a back-and-forth Beach District battle.
The teams combined for 27 points in the fourth quarter, with three TDs coming in the final minute.
Tallwood’s Eric Brown hit his brother Robert for a touchdown pass to put the Lions (0-4) ahead 20-14 with 40 seconds left. Tallwood, though, missed the extra point.
Kellam (2-3) started the ensuing possession at its own 37, and Kane found Holloman on the first play for the game-winning score.
Tallwood drove into Knights territory in the final seconds, but Andrew Williams missed on a 43-yard field goal attempt as time expired.

No. 3 Bayside 60, Princess Anne 13
The Marlins – led by quarterback Deion Stitt – bolted to a 53-13 halftime lead after scoring 39 second-quarter points in a Beach District victory.
Stitt completed 10 of 12 passes for 266 yards and four TDs for Bayside (4-0), which returned two interceptions for scores.
Stitt’s first-half touchdown passes went for 40, 17, 65, and 80 yards, and he added a 1-yard TD run.

Kempsville 20, First Colonial 13
Travis Hughes rushed for 209 yards – his first 100-yard game this season – and scored three touchdowns as the Chiefs won a Beach District game.
Kempsville (2-2) forced three First Colonial turnovers, including a late fumble forced by linebacker Jesse Litton.
The Patriots (2-3) were led by quarterback A.J. Bordley, who threw a TD pass and rushed for another.
Western Branch 47, Nansemond River 0
Six players scored touchdowns as the Bruins picked up their first victory of the season in a Southeastern District game.
Western Branch (1-3, 1-2) dominated in the trenches, with its offensive line paving the way for 367 total rushing yards. The Bruins limited the Warriors (1-3, 1-2) to 29 total yards and recorded four sacks.

Deep Creek 14, Hickory 12
Derrick Boone’s 29-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter lifted the Hornets to their first victory of the season in a Southeastern District game.
Boone scored one play after Deep Creek (1-3, 1-2) recovered a Hickory fumble. Quarterback Kameron Stewart scored the Hornets’ first touchdown on a 2-yard run.
The Hawks (3-1, 2-1) had scored 35 or more points in each of their first three games. But on Friday Hickory managed only a George Godfrey 2-yard TD run and a 90-yard interception return by Chip Butt.
No. 7 Great Bridge 43, Lakeland 0
Great Bridge improved to 4-0 after rolling over the Cavaliers (0-4).
Marc Meier returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown as the Wildcats (4-0, 3-0) rolled to a Southeastern District home win.
Great Bridge finished with 612 total yards of offense.
No. 4 Lake Taylor 44, Granby 6
The Titans scored 30 first-half points and limited Granby to 80 total yards in the Eastern District opener for both teams.
Quarterback Donovan Powell rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns and running back Derrion Walton added 42 yards and two TDs for Lake Taylor (3-1) .
Landstown 28, Cox 7
K.J. Harris completed 12 of 16 passes for 172 yards as the Eagles rallied from a 7-0 first-quarter deficit in a Beach District victory.
Harris replaced injured starting QB Larry Joshua, who’s nursing an ankle injury.
Landstown (4-1), coming off a shutout loss to Bayside last week, started slow, but led 21-7 at halftime.
Jordan Broadnax scored on runs of 33 and 27 yards in the first half, finishing with 132 yards on 18 carries. The Eagles’ Kyle Dockins caught seven passes for 115 yards.
Meadowbrook 28, Norview 12
Domico Phillips rushed for 147 yards and two TDs and returned a kickoff for another score as the Monarchs dropped Norview to 0-4.
Indian River 20, King’s Fork 19
The Braves (2-2, 2-1) picked up their second consecutive one-point Southeastern District victory.
St. Christopher’s 35, Norfolk Academy 0
Quarterback Rob Bozenilek threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns and added a 65-yard scoring scramble as St. Christopher’s handed Norfolk Academy a home loss.
St. Christopher’s (4-0) led 28-0 at halftime, while the Bulldogs (0-3) were held to 140 total yards.
