J.J. Williams is out for Saturday
It was going to be a push to get J.J. Williams ready for Saturday's game against Jacksonville as he came off a hamstring injury. Then push came to shove.
Williams caught some type of stomach bug early in the week and was sent by ODU's coaching staff to see university health services. Coach Bobby Wilder said he's as anxious as anybody to see what the middle linebacker with a quick first step can do for the Monarchs ... and added he's had to assure Williams that there "isn't a black cloud following him."
Williams arrived at ODU last year, but the NCAA ruled he needed a year of residency before gaining eligibility. So he red-shirted last season. He's expected to start at linebacker once he regains his health.
