VIRGINIA BEACH

A student suffered a minor injury this morning during a collision between a school bus and a car, police said.

The crash was reported around 6:50 a.m. It appears that a driver traveling on San Marco Road failed to yield the right-of-way when turning onto Elson Green Avenue, causing the collision with the Kellam High School bus, said Officer Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman.

A student on the bus reported hitting his nose on the back of one of the seats but was not seriously injured and did not require medical transport, Bernstein said. The student was able to attend school, according to a schools spokeswoman.

Police cited the vehicle’s driver for failure to yield, Bernstein said. There didn’t appear to be any major damage, he said.
