Shooting injures one person in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH

Police are investigating a shooting this morning in the 300 block of Chase Arbor Court in the Chase Arbor Apartments, dispatchers confirmed.

The shooting initially was reported about 1 a.m. as a robbery, dispatchers said. The victim says he was approaching a friend’s apartment when several people approached him, tried to rob him and then shot him before fleeing, said Officer Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman.

His injuries were not life-threatening, he said.

The shooter drove off in a black Ford Taurus, according to a police report filed online. The report says a necklace was taken.

Police described the gunman as black, 20 to 25, and 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall. He is thin and has a beard and mustache. He was wearing a green T-shirt and carried a black backpack and silver handgun.
