Stars to Collide as Shuttle Lands in Portsmouth Oct. 1

A World Premiere Movie is coming to Portsmouth.  So, it only seems natural that a star from Portsmouth will host the supernatural stars from a sci-fi movie filmed in Portsmouth.

Former NFL Star Roger Brown (shown right) will host the stars from the movie 'Atlantis Down' at the 'After Party' on Friday October 1, 2010.

The stars from the movie 'Atlantis Down' will arrive on the Red Carpet at 6 p.m. for the World Premiere screening at the Commodore Theatre in Olde Towne Portsmouth, VA.

The 'After Party' will take place at Roger Brown's Restaurant & Sports Bar, located at 316 High Street, Portsmouth, immediately following the conclusion of the movie at 9:30 p.m.  A limited engagement of the movie will continue from October 2nd to 7th at the Commodore Theatre.  For those unable to make it to the Premiere, you can purchase a ticket online at www.atlantisdown.com for the other showings at only $8.00 per ticketYou can also purchase tickets, in person, at Starboards Coffee Kiosk a High Street Landing in Olde Towne Portsmouth.

At the 'After Party' on October 1st., locals will have an opportunity to mingle with the stars and VIP celebrities.  The stars attending include:Michael Rooker (JFK, Cliff Hanger, Days of Thunder, to name a few); Dean Haglund (X-Files, The Lone Gunmen); Greg Travis (Starship Troopers, Showgirls); Kera O’Bryon.  All have solid film and television credits.  You'll also have an opportunity to meet Director/Producer Max Bartoli and Producer/Executive Producer Ethan Marten.

There are a number of Virginia actors that will appear.  These include Darla Grese, an actress, writer, producer and director who will play the role of Astronaut Mary Bishop.  Playing the role of Captain Richard Castle is actor Anthony Ware.  Actress Mae Flores plays the role of Rachel Lee.  She continues to receive overwhelming support from the Filippino community of Hampton Roads, the second largest Filippino Comunity of the country after Los Angeles.  Members of the International press, including BBC, will be there as well.

Roger Brown is a star in his own right playing football for the Detroit Lions from 1960 to 1966 and the Los Angeles Rams from 1967 to 1970.  He was in six NFL Pro Bowls.

Live music for the 'After Party' will be provided by the band 'Jack Move'.  A limited amount of tickets are available for the 'After Party' only.  Prices are $12.00 per person or $20.00 per couple.  Tickets are available only at Starboards Coffee Kiosk.

The movie 'Atlantis Down;' was filmed primarily in Portsmouth, above Brutti's Restaurant at 463 Court Street, in a vacant space, which was quickly named Studio 463.  The space is now being turned into a night club by Brutti's owner, Charles Greenhood.

Here is a little about the movie.  It's the year 2025.  The space shuttle program has been privatized and Atlantis has been relegated to nothing more than a glorified taxi between space stations.  Its crew is on a routine mission.  They think they are conducting experiments.  What they don't realize is that they are the experiment.   On a routine mission shuttle Atlantis encounters bursts of light shutting down its instrumentation leaving it adrift in space with Rookie Astronaut Travis Black at the command.  The Atlantis encounters an anomaly in space that transports most of her crew to a planet that looks like Earth - but isn't.  The remaining crew find themselves in the middle of a barren, desert wasteland.   Crew members begin dying in bizarre ways.  The Rookie Astronaut Travis comes to realize that he has been chosen to compete in some sort of galactic chess game with a superior intelligence - where losing means death.

MaXaM Productions is based in the UK with headquarters in Rome, Los Angeles and Hampton Roads, VA.  Bartoli and Marten have two other films in the works and plan on shooting again in Portsmouth.

Again, please purchase tickets online at www.atlantisdown.com . Those unable to attend the premiere screening are welcome to come out and catch a glimpse of the Stars walking the red carpet and attend the'After Party'.

Rather than a collision, it looks like the stars are aligned for Portsmouth.  So, get ready to meet the stars with Portsmouth's own Roger Brown.  The shuttle 'Atlantis Down' lands in Olde Towne Portsmouth on October 1st.  It will be a great ride so enjoy the movie and the 'After Party'.
