TCC among leaders for national community-college project

Posted to: Education News

Tidewater Community College has been selected by the Association of American Colleges and Universities to lead an initiative to improve the success of community college students.

“Developing a Community College Roadmap: From Entrance to Engagement in Educational Achievement and Success,” joins TCC with 11 other community colleges around the nation to create a proactive program for academic support that will teach students how to become active partners in their educational success.

The project seeks to connect the dots among the varied student-support programs at leading community colleges and create roadmaps for success. TCC’s efforts that focus on early intervention for student success already include student orientation programs that feature face-to-face interactive sessions and an online component for students to complete at their own pace. Other programs include a required study skills and orientation course and supplemental instruction with peer mentors.

Northern Virginia Community College is among the community colleges joining TCC in this initiative.
