Their VAIN plates declare bond. Now Beach couple to marry.

VIRGINIA BEACH

Mr. and Mrs. Vain are making it official.

Last week, David Osborne popped the question to his girlfriend, Samantha Thomson, she confirmed.

The Virginia Beach couple made news last year for their matching license plates: "MRS VAIN" and "MR VAIN," though they had yet to actually tie the knot.

Osborne, 27, had a license plate that said "2 VAIN" when he met Thomson at the Norfolk nightclub The Wave in 2007.

Thomson, 22, eventually started calling herself "MRS VAIN" and got the official tags in January 2008. Osborne changed his to "MR VAIN" the same day.

Thomson said she's since gotten a new car, but she's held on to her personalized plates.

A November 2011 wedding in Sandbridge is planned.

Death Spiral

Anyone who doubts that daily newspapers are in a death spiral need only to see the mindless drivel like this that seems to be the daily fare in The Pilot.

Big Deal

I thought this would be gay- or abortion-related or something. Virginians have cute license plates: this is news? Is there anything else about this couple's lives that makes them interesting? Isn't the idea of journalism to find an interesting story and dig deeper?

products of a materialistic and shallow culture

All is well among the hyper-individualistic me me me generation. Carry on. Now lets give them an ipod and tell them how to vote!

this is news?

the pile-it sure must be hard up for print to fill the pages.
