DURHAM, N.C.
Scott Moore had three hits and drove in five runs Saturday night, but a wild pitch made the difference for the Norfolk Tides at Durham Athletic Park.
Winston Abreu's errant delivery allowed Blake Davis to score the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning of Norfolk's 7-6 victory over the Durham Bulls.
Moore gave the Tides a 4-0 lead just five batters into the game, hitting a first-inning grand slam. He added an RBI double in the third and Michael Aubrey a sacrifice fly in the eighth, giving the Tides 6-3 lead after 8-1/2 innings.
But the Bulls, who clinched the International League's South Division title Aug. 20, scored twice in the eighth and once in the ninth to extend the game.
After blowing the save in the ninth, right-hander Frank Mata (5-3) earned the win for the Tides, who conclude their season with games today (5:05 p.m.) and Monday (1:05 p.m.) at Durham.
