Tallwood 14, No. 9 Green Run 6
The Lions drove 76 yards – aided by a Green Run penalty – late in the third quarter for the game-clinching touchdown on the way to their first victory of the season Friday night.
Tallwood (1-4) had lost 11 of its past 12 games since last season and lost twice this season by five points or fewer.
But clinging to a 7-6 lead late in the third quarter, the Lions took advantage of a roughing-the- punter call on Green Run (3-3).
George Joyner’s 13-yard TD run capped the six-play, 76-yard drive with 12 seconds left in the third.
Tallwood stopped Green Run on a fourth-and-12 at the Lions’ 41 with 2:19 left, then ran out the clock. Tallwood quarterback Robert Brown sealed it with a 28-yard completion to his brother Eric Brown on third-and-15 with 17 seconds remaining.

No. 6 Grassfield 21, Indian River 20
Tyler Clark’s 10-yard pass to James Faircloth – and Ryan Woodcock’s extra point – gave the Grizzlies an overtime victory in a Southeastern District nail-biter.
Indian River’s Juwan Alvarado scored on a 9-yard run, but the Braves’ Heath Saunders missed the extra-point attempt. The Grizzlies (4-1, 3-1) finished with 338 total yards, but committed three turnovers.
Indian River (2-3, 2-2) trailed 14-0 after the first quarter, but Geno Hawkins’ 67-yard TD reception in the third quarter sent it into overtime.

No. 1 Oscar Smith 43, Hickory 14
The Tigers shut down Hickory’s triple-option offense and threw in a few options of their own to run away with a Southeastern District victory.
Oscar Smith (4-1 overall, 4-0 Southeastern) used 21 unanswered second-quarter points to blow open a close contest.
Leading 9-7, the Tigers got TD runs of 14 yards from J.C. Coleman and 17 yards from Jaston George. Quarterback J.J. Williamson hit Jayquan Darden on a 28-yard scoring play for a 30-7 halftime lead.

The visiting Truckers scored on their first two possessions and led 28-0 at halftime in an Eastern District victory.
Johntae Outten scored on a 46-yard pass before Jacorey Robbins had a 7-yard touchdown run to open the game, and Marvelle Edmondson added a 98-yard interception return in the second half.

Cox 21, Princess Anne 17
Devaul Peterson rumbled for 102 yards and three TDs and quarterback Steven Boyser added 109 yards to pace Cox to a tough Beach District road win.
The Falcons (2-3), who snapped a three-game skid, looked like they were going to put it away early, marching the field on their first two possessions for a 14-0 lead. But on senior night, the Cavaliers (0-6) were not about to go away. The defense stiffened in the second period and, after a fumble and an interception killed promising Cavalier drives, QB Brian Morgan hooked up with freshman wide receiver Jamil Kamara on a 39-yard strike just before the half.
Morgan, who finished with 168 yards and two TDs, kept the Cavaliers in it until the end, but three Hail Marys gave the ball back to the Falcons with 1:26 left.

Kempsville 33, Kellam 6
The Chiefs rolled up 432 total yards, including 328 on the ground, in a Beach District road victory.
Travis Hughes rushed for 117 yards and two TDs. DeAndre McNair added 58 yards and a score for Kempsville (3-2). Gavin Williams scored on a 78-yard punt return.
Kellam (2-4) played its first game without injured starting quarterback Gunnar Kane.

Hampton Roads 40, Norfolk Academy 13
Ty Smith rushed for 171 yards and four TDs in a Tidewater Conference victory that dropped Norfolk Academy to 0-4.
