Keep the climate - and the change

Posted to: Daryl Lease Opinion

Some folks in Virginia, it appears, are puzzled by Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli's claim that he's spent a mere $737.89 in taxpayers' money in his long and valiant campaign against former University of Virginia scientist Michael Mann.

Billable hours, schmillable hours. Suing the federal government and wayward Mr. Wizards of the world are all part of a good day's work for the state's top attorney and his staff. Hardly worth calculating.

But in the interest of transparency, full disclosure, accountability and all that other good-government rigmarole, here's an itemized accounting of the rest:

One page of official Commonwealth of Virginia stationery: 5 cents

Multiple copies of official stationery, made late at night on Xerox machine in Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling's office: $0

Three fishing poles (24-inch Polar Lites, suitable for ice fishing from here to eternity): $38.91

One used hockey stick (eBay): $8.99

One large poster board, suitable for mounting a hockey stick for Exhibit A: $9.99

Five Snuggies, custom-printed with "G-g-global w-w-warming s-s-sure is inc-c-convenient!": $53.97

Bust of William Jennings Bryan (eBay): $13.50

One pack of magic markers to draw decent clothing on that half-naked woman on state seal on official Commonwealth of Virginia stationery: $1.98

Copy of "How to File a Civil Subpoena" (Amazon.com): $8.44

Four cell calls to Fox News to see if Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity or even Geraldo would like to interview the attorney general: $2

Two large pizzas, extra anchovies: $12 (with coupon)

One 8-by-10 glossy photo of the attorney general, given as tip to pizza delivery man (eBay value): $2.50

Cheez Doodles, one bag: $3.12

Five Snuggies, custom-printed with "The people on the Titanic didn't think glaciers were so cool": $53.97

Prank cell phone call to Lt. Gov. Bolling from "Sarah Palin" offering him the No. 2 spot on ticket in 2012, $3.50

Three copies of "101 Inspirational Quotes from the Inquisition" (Amazon.com): $2.97

One bottle of Bic Wite-Out to remove Cheez Doodle stains from decent clothing drawn on that half-naked woman on the state seal: $3.98

One globe, flat-screen version (eBay): $14.99

Gift certificate to Al Gore for visits to massage therapist: $100

Prank phone call to Gov. Bob McDonnell to warn that attorney general is pondering a "state's rights" lawsuit against federal government for running "interstates" through Virginia: $4

Fuzzy polar bear slippers for staff: $112.33

Nineteen copies of Rep. Eric Cantor's "Young Guns: A New Generation of Conservative Leaders" to search for attorney general's name: $193.80

Seven Snuggies, custom printed with "The Arctic is melting? Great! Easier to move in the oil rigs": $92.90

What Is He Talking About

I am not even sure what this editorial is talking about. Must be a last minute editorial deadling piece.

kenny shows his true etics with his 700$ cost statement

Once you know a person will lie, as kenny does with his only costing the state $700 statement, how do you know when he is being accurate and not using his state office solely for personal ambition.

????

Just how does anyone know or can verify this 95% figure you use? With all the suppression, lies, deliberate obsafication, and black balling of anyone with dissenting data there is no way of knowing how many scientist believe in man generated global warming or not. Surely the summit at Copenhagen didn't fail because Bozobama was cheerleading like crazy for this fraud. For the first time the greenie weenies had an American President ready to sign away the prosperity of the nation and future generations..... yet the whole rest of the world said..... "oh wait, we don't like all these lies and falsified data in the IPCC reports."

I must assume...

by the lack of comments either way on this extreemly important topic you are addressing that no one other than you give a "Bag of cheese doodles" what your opinion is...LOL

I'm just saying...

Here ya go, Danno

As a taxpayer and citizen of Virginia I would rather those lawyers on Krazy Ken's staff be doing something useful with their time and my tax money than padding Krazy's Ken's tea party bona fides. 95% of the world's climate scientists agree that global climate change has a human component, more than agree on smoking contributing to lung cancer and heart disease. Why doesn't the AG go after EVMS for its "fraudulent" research on the health impacts of smoking? I want my money back!

This just in...

Wow, talk about right on time? This article shows exactly why we need some oversight into this whole "global warming" thing.

Read this if you dare. Both sides of the issue agree in the over estimate. That means 100% of the scientist agree this was a bogus estimate (yea, I just made that up...lol). (BY 340% ?!? I didn't make this one up)

You had me...

right up until you went from a lucid argument to using "Krazy Ken" (actually it should be Crazy, but I digress) If only you had the mental discipline to withhold the name calling and the made up statistic (after all 87.5% of all statistics are made up on the spot), I would have agreed with you. Not that you should care if I agree with you...lol

BTW, good luck getting anything back from any of these criminals, Repub or Dem. They stole it from us fair and square and they need it to buy future votes.
