Amerigroup, Dollar Tree executives exercise options, sell shares

Top executives at Amerigroup Corp. and Dollar Tree Inc. exercised stock options this week and immediately sold the shares, pocketing the proceeds.

On Tuesday, Amerigroup Chairman James G. Carlson exercised options to buy 35,000 shares of the Virginia Beach-based health insurer's stock for $15.63 each, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Carlson sold the shares for between $42.45 and $42.77 each, netting about $940,000 before taxes.

On Friday, Dollar Tree CEO Bob Sasser exercised options to 27,482 shares in the Chesapeake-based retailer for $25.49 each, according to an SEC filing. He sold them for $53 each, netting $756,029 before taxes. Carlson continues to own 217,840 Amerigroup shares; Sasser remains the owner of 126,993 shares in Dollar Tree.
