Spectacular sunsets are no longer limited to the summer season: Rudee's On The Inlet restaurant, near the Oceanfront, has opened its outdoor sun deck - affectionately known as the Cabana - year-round.
Until recently, the Cabana had been open only seasonally. It is noted for its spectacular views of Rudee Inlet and glider seats for two - your Beach Eats chef has enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, watching the comings and goings of many boats, crabcake sandwich in hand.
The Cabana will now be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, offering a full menu that includes new lunch specials released last week. Sunday brunch is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and after 2, football fans can enjoy game-day specials while watching Sunday NFL Ticket games on the restaurant's multiple TVs.
Daily lunch specials are $7.95: Monday, French-dip sandwich; Tuesday, tacos; Wednesday, open-faced roast beef sandwich; Thursday, New York strip steak; Friday, fish and chips; Saturday, burgers; and Sunday, breakfast sliders. Side dishes are served alongside the entree.
A lineup of evening specials from Monday through Thursday has also been added, with deals including shrimp, lobster, prime rib and stuffed flounder. Prices run from $9.95 to $19.95.

HOLIDAY FARMERS MARKET
The Old Beach Farmers Market returns for two special holiday markets, Nov. 20 and Dec. 19, both from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Look for many of the same vendor favorites from the summer season to return, market organizers say.
The lineup includes: collards and other fall/winter vegetables, seasonal seafood, baked goods and more. The regular market reopens in late spring.
The Old Beach Farmers Market takes place in the parking lot of Croc's Eco Bistro, 620 19th St.; 428-5444, www.oldbeachfarmers market.com
LIGHTS DIM AT HAVANA
RED MILL
The Havana restaurant location in Red Mill has closed.
Keith Berger, an owner of the operation, has posted a note on the eatery's website that reads, in part, "Over the past few months we tried to secure partnerships and loans, without success. The economic climate has brought a black cloud to this industry and has made it hard."
Doors shuttered Oct. 16.
A Havana location along the Great Neck Corridor is owned and operated by separate interests and is not affected.
TRUFFLES FOR THE TABLE
French culinary luminary Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin called truffles "the diamond of the kitchen," and, in fact, this edible fungus is so highly sought after that they can demand high prices at the market.
To celebrate the complex, earthy flavor and the traditional Italian harvest time of autumn, Terrapin Restaurant is adding a smattering of truffle dishes to its menu during select dates this month.
Truffle dishes are offered this Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. General Manager Brian Williams notes that several wines from the Tuscany and Piedmont regions of Italy have been carefully selected to compliment the truffles and are available by the bottle or glass.
Terrapin Restaurant is at 3102 Holly Road; 321-6688, www.terrapinvirginiabeach.com
