Enjoy a bite during Suffolk Restaurant Week

Posted to: Entertainment Restaurants Spotlight Suffolk

Suffolk diners savored it. The city's restaurants loved it.

So both are shouting "encore!" this week, when the weeklong inaugural Suffolk Restaurant Week - A Culinary Encore is observed throughout the city.

This showcase of Suffolk's favorite, and newly opened, eating establishments is a fall version of the traditional spring Restaurant Week, said Lynette White, tourism development manager with the city's tourism office, the sponsor and organizer of the edible event.

"Our spring event went so well, we got great demand from the public and from the restaurants to do another in the fall," she said. "We got all the participating restaurants together and talking and came up with the Encore. And it's a way to put our arms around the new ones that have opened."

Welcomed into the city' culinary fold will be the Broken Egg Bistro in North Suffolk and downtown's Plaid Turnip. They join 10 others in offering special menus during the weeklong celebration that ends next Sunday.

White said that between today and then, the restaurants will offer special deluxe and premier menus: $10 lunch/$20 dinner, $15 lunch/$30 dinner. Diners need no coupons, passes, tickets or cards. Simply visit the restaurant of choice and order the deluxe or premier plan.

All selections include an appetizer, entree and dessert, and the premier menu offers a little more than the deluxe, White said, adding, "We like to boast about and show off our restaurants, and welcome the new ones to the city. We have such a depth of variety here in the city."
