Norfolk to hold info session to teach about tax auctions

Posted to: Banking Business Local Government News Norfolk Realty News

The city is hosting another informational session for investors and residents looking to purchase properties through the new tax auction process.

On Jan. 6, Norfolk will hold its first professionally run auction to sell tax-delinquent properties. The change came after the city was criticized earlier this year for its backlog of seriously overdue real estate accounts.

The first auction information session, held this month, attracted about 125 people, and some had to be turned away because it was full, auctioneer Roy Black said.

Now, a second session has been added. It will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Workforce Development Center, 201 E. Little Creek Road in Norfolk. The seminar is free and open to residents and investors.
