Kyle Busch the dirtiest competitor in NASCAR history? Really?
Take lists for what they are ... just lists and nothing more. That said, if you're into such things, I happened to see an item in today's Wall Street Journal that noted that the website Complex Media listed the 50 dirtiest athletes in sports history. And two NASCAR drivers are on the list.
As the website noted on what makes the dirtiest athletes: "what actions really define a 'dirty' player? Concussion-causing hits? Physical abuse of refs? Grabbing balls? Spitting? Biting? Stamping? After research, we found it's all of those things _ and a bit more.''
That said, according to this website _ and again, you can take this list for what it's worth _ Kyle Busch ranked 38th (ahead of Mike Tyson who was 40th) and highest among NASCAR competitors. The website noted Busch's recent episode where he flipped off an official during a race, the guitar-smashing episode after winning the Nashville Nationwide race and other things.
By being the highest-ranked competitor from NASCAR on this list, I guess, that would mean, according to the this group, that Busch is the dirtiest competitor in NASCAR history. Really?
One other competitor from NASCAR made the list.
Carl Edwards was No. 48. He earned the ranking for wrecking Brad Keselowski at Atlanta in the spring. With no other NASCAR drivers listed, that would make Edwards the second dirtiest competitor in NASCAR history, according to this list.
For those wondering, hockey player Marty McSorely was judged to be the dirtiest player in sports history. Tonya Harding was No. 9 on the list.
Now as for the NASCAR part of that list, do you buy that Busch and Edwards are the dirtiest drivers in the sport's history?

Dirttiest driver in NASCAR history.
DIRTTIEST DRIVER IN THE HISTORY OF NASCAR? Kyle Petty has said that No one could compare to his Grandfather, LEE PETTY. Of course, that was before television got involved in racing.
Dirty drivers
I don't think Edwards really belongs on the list, and Kyle Busch is borderline.
Edwards has raced other drivers very clean for wins (see Edwards/Johnson at Kansas); he has mainly had a problem with Keselowski. Why do you suppose that is? Keselowski has cleaned up his act a bit lately, I think, but for a while, was driving with his bumper.
Here's a question: should The Man be included? He did "rattle" a lot of "cages."
Anyone,
Anyone who thinks Kyle and Carl are the "bad boys" of Nascar, haven't studied the history of NASCAR very much. If they were such "bad boys", why didn't one of them take out JJ in the last couple of chase races? They are just posers and Bad Boy Wanna be's !
Kyle Busch? no way
Flipping off officials? Smashing the trophy? Certainly signs of bad sportsmanship and childish behavior (he first cleared the trophy-smash with the artist who painted the guitar, but still in poor taste), but how do those acts make him a "dirty player"? Kyle Busch is certainly no angel, but D.O.A.T.? No way. Edwards, on the other hand, has proven himself on the track. Still. neither is likely the dirtiest ever.
I certainly agree that Kyle
I certainly agree that Kyle and Edwards are the two dirtiest drivers in Nascar. Of course you could easily add a few more.
how about...
These two: Brian Vickers and Kurt Busch. Both have intentionally wrecked other drivers; even on the last lap.
kurt busch indeed
Good call. He's had many a run-in throughout his career. I think he even took a punch from Mr. Excitement, too!
Dirtiest Driver
And Kevin Harvick didn't make the list? This guy will intentionally dump someone because they race him hard. Examples... Joey Logano not once but twice this past year, Kyle Busch at Homestead. And as I recall he was the only one who openly admitted that he would "do whatever it takes" to win the championship. I wish other drivers would start racing him the way he races everyone else on the track
true
I hate to say it, but he is kinda the embodiment of the Dale Sr. style. Funny how that worked out. Maybe RC just has an eye for those things.
DIRTIEST DRIVER
Kyle Busch is an immature brat, just like his brother Kurt. Both have shown indications of growing up.
Edwards, he seems to be guilty of retaliation.
Neither one of these would be in the same ballpark as some of the pioneers. In fact Lee Petty should rank ahead of them. And I view petty as a fair driver.
Don't like the Busch brothers but dirtiest for Kyle, no way.
