Michael Vick says he hopes to have a pet dog one day

PHILADELPHIA

Convicted dogfighting-ring operator Michael Vick hopes to own a dog again someday.

The Eagles quarterback tells TheGrio.com in a video interview that he genuinely cares for animals and one day hopes to have a dog as a household pet. Vick says it would a "big step" in his rehabilitation process.

Vick served 18 months in prison after being convicted in 2007. The federal judge overseeing the case also prohibited him from ever owning another dog.

He has become an advocate for the Humane Society of the United States and makes school appearances to talk to students about his past.

Vick told the site he wouldn't take dog ownership lightly if he ever gets the opportunity.

I'd like to have another

I'd like to have another beer too.

I doubt if he ill do aymore dog fighting

... but I sure wouldn't him to own a rooster.

Dogging Him

Quit dogging him.

Probably not enforceable

The federal judge overseeing the case also prohibited him from ever owning another dog.....however I think the truth of it is he can't own one as long as he is on probation. I don't think there is anything the courts can do once he has completed probation.

another option

Maybe he can assist a nobody in dressing up in camouflage to shoot a helpless animal, then drive around town with it attatched to the hood of his car, and post pictures of the triumph on facebook.

I say put him in a ring with

I say put him in a ring with 4 agitated pit bulls and if he can calm them down nicely and get out without getting bitten...let him have a dog.

If it is a pet he wants

Then maybe the judge should reward him with a nice fat Madagascar hissing Cockroach! Although he would probably train it to fight using regular roaches as training aids then stage matches!

Why not?

Why shouldn’t he be allowed to own a dog? Just because he was into dog fighting? He also ran an illegal gambling ring but they let him back into football. I trust him with a dog as much as I trust him not to throw a few bad passes during a game for a bookie.

He might be trustworthy

He might be trustworthy enough to have a video of Old Yeller, but a living animal? No.
