'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' rallies support in Va. Beach

A community pep rally ahead of a local "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" project was held Thursday night at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Pep-rally attendees -- including Girl Scout Troop 54 members, from left, Cadence Gilbert, Trinity Morgan and Aleea Saylor -- get loud in support of the TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." The Emmy Award-winning reality show is coming to Hampton Roads for the first time to rebuild a home for a family.

Chesapeake’s Elizabeth Hughes, 8, who recently gained recognition for her national anthem at a Norfolk Admirals game, belts out “God Bless America" at the rally.

Girl Scouts Cadence Gilbert and Trinity Morgan scream at the rally, which featured a food drive to benefit food banks.
