Camera. Action. Camera. Action. Jet noise. "Is that Xzibit?" Again!
Monday's work on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" was stutter-step of Hollywood and flying dust as crews began tearing down the house on Gentry Road.
Beverly Hill, husband Fred Burdette and their six daughters learned Sunday that they would receive a new home through the hit ABC program.
Monday morning, volunteers in blue shirts shivered behind barricades as cameras filmed designer Paige Hemmis sitting in a rig in front of the house while crew members outside rocked the truck to resemble the jostling of cruising down Interstate 64.
Onlookers got an eyeful of host Ty Pennington and rapper and celebrity designer Xzibit walking the property and filming segments for the family, which was sent out of town on a vacation.
Yes, Beverly Hill and her family are in Beverly Hills, Calif.
It took hours for demolition crews to bring the house down and to film what inevitably will be snippets during the hour long show expected to air weeks from now.
Occasionally, cameras stopped rolling when jets roared overhead.

Our affiliate was established in 1988 by community residents. Over the years and with community support ranging from; government, residents, churches, organizations, businesses, schools and other groups we have transformed lives and our own community for more than 170 families. With continued support we will transform more lives - you too can come help us! Visit us at www.shrhabitat.org or call 640-0590 for more information.
Oh please....
We all know that those who foster kids are doing it for the money so enough with the "she's holier than thou" crap for fostering kids. And, by the way, why doesn't she have her husbands last name? I'll bet it has something to do with money as well.
And another thing.....Why bring all those kids in a house that can't support them? I wish this would've gone to a home for special needs persons.
Ignorance
Ummm you don't get any money once you actually adopt the kids, which she has done, six times. So it's clearly not for the money
no to be a bummer.
I think the premise is good but what happens after a few years from now. I have seen stories where after the extreme team leaves problem happen. The house is worth more so property taxes go up. The house is larger so utilities go up. They still owe the mortgages so who modified them. The house real property and the trip is given to them so its implied income therefore taxes as income knowledge. So how takes care of the details several years down the road? Will they have the resources to pay the extra cost or be forced to give it up in a few years. not all of these end well search the net..
Permits?
Those pink shingles you see on the front of the house is asbestos...that certainly wasn't cedar shake. Also www.vbgov.com doesn't show any permits for this house expect Virginia Natural Gas. I'm sure the city can do the inspections fast enough because it's a TV show, but shouldn't permits still need to be pulled? You can verify permits online for the property. Only one from 1998 and 1/28/2011 for Virginia Natural Gas...GC might want to fix that asap.
Concerns.....
While I do commend the family for their service to the community and the children of the world they've taken in and assisted, I have concerns over the replacing of a house with a house almost three times the size of ANY house in the neighborhood....
Seems the Extreme folks are truly going to the extreme....
Replacing the house with a more suitable structure in keeping with the size of homes in the neighborhood would have been a much wiser decision.
I guess that doesn't get Ty any props though does it?
On Beech St. down off of
On Beech St. down off of Shore drive, most of the homes were either 60's era cheap duplexes or average homes. One home was torn down and up went a rather large home that did not fit the neighborhood. Shortly thereafter another person did the same, then another. It seems sometimes there is a domino effect that inspires others to do the same.
comical....

Extreme Makeover Family
Let me assure you, they knew they were 1 of 4 who might be chosen. They spoke with the kids' schools. They truly feel blessed. Their clothes were donated (someone chose to give BACK to them), the asbestos was properly removed (that's why the house appears pink-it had yellow siding). And to the family who used to live there-the pool was in disrepair, falling down around itself with overgrown yard debris when she moved in in 2005. Many who care about Beverly stepped in to clean up that mess; so stop crying over your former house and making it out to be something it was not. She helped me get thru an illness that took its toll on me both physically & emotionally; I'll never forget it. She is the epitome of a good Christian & I'm not religious
