Schools in Va., N.C. opening late today due to weather

Icy road conditions today have prompted morning delays at several local military installations and some school divisions in Virginia and North Carolina.

Public schools in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Suffolk and Isle of Wight County announced this morning that they will open on a two-hour delay. There will be no morning kindergarten in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake. There will be a one-hour delay for afternoon kindergarten and pre-kindergarten in Chesapeake. 

In North Carolina, Camden County Schools, Currituck County Schools, Edenton-Chowan Schools, Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools, Gates County Public Schools, Hertford County Public Schools, Hyde County Schools, Perquimans County Schools will open on a two-hour delay.

Hyde County government offices also will open on a two-hour delay.

Suffolk city offices will open two hours late.

The Navy Region Mid-Atlantic commander has authorized all nonessential personnel to arrive two hours late on Tuesday at Hampton Roads-area installations. Essential personnel should report as scheduled, and sailors with specific reporting questions should contact their chain of command.

U.S. Joint Forces Command will be delayed two hours.

Nonessential personnel should report one hour late to Joint Base Langley-Eustis, the Army said. For civilian employees, administrative excusal is authorized for normal shift start time for one hour.

Employees who previously were approved for leave will be charged leave for the entire day.

Fort Monroe is also instructing nonessential personnel to arrive one hour late.

I haven't seen anything about the NAVMEDCTRPORTS, so until I do, I will assume we will carry on as usual.

Do you mean to say you don't understand the two hour delay?

Or you don't understand why they have to go in at all?

He's probably wondering why the people we pay to protect us in National emergencies are the first to bail before anything even happens.
