Sentara named "most integrated" healthcare system
For the second consecutive year, Norfolk-based Sentara Healthcare has been ranked number one in the nation among healthcare systems for its performance and integration of services.
The rankings of more than 100 health networks are published annually by Modern Healthcare Magazine and compiled by SDI, a healthcare analytics company. The assessment is based on eight criteria, including services offered, clinical and technology integration, and financial stability.
As an integrated healthcare system, Sentara provides a variety of in- and outpatient services, including physician practices, long-term care and health insurance through Optima Health. Modern Healthcare highlighted Sentara eCare, an electronic medical record system, as an effective way that Sentara bolstered communication and increased efficiency within its system.
