Submarine Scranton will deploy today

The fast-attack submarine Scranton will leave Friday for a routine deployment to Europe, the Navy announced.

Highlights

Fast-attack submarines like the Scranton, nicknamed the Iron Horse, carry out many missions. They use their stealth, agility and firepower to deploy and support special force operations, disrupt and destroy an adversary’s military and economic operations at sea, provide early close-in missile strikes from close proximity, and ensure undersea superiority.
