Tidewater Community College will host Super Saturday on Feb. 5 as part of a statewide effort to help new and returning students complete the federal financial aid form – the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The form is used by colleges, universities and career-technical schools across the country to determine eligibility for student federal financial aid.
Students and families can come any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to the free event, held at the Advanced Technology Center, Virginia Beach Campus, 1700 College Crescent, Virginia Beach. For map and directions, see http://www.tcc.edu/welcome/locations/
During the event, TCC will offer a financial aid workshop – at 10:30 a.m. and repeated at noon – to discuss and simplify the federal and state financial aid process. Volunteer financial aid experts will be on hand to assist students and parents, who can use computers during the session to apply for federal aid electronically.
This event is open to parents and students of all grade levels as well as adults interested in furthering their education.
A $100 Book Scholarship will be awarded to one student at each Super Saturday site, to be used at the winner’s college of choice during the 2011-12 academic year.

Have you ever filled out one of those forms? They are very confusing, especially for a teenager.
Wow..
Yes, I have filled one out for the past two years. My 18 year old son did his own last year, along with ALL of the other things he needed to fill out for college. People seem to confuse "long" with "confusing". Sometimes, you just have to take the time to READ what's in front of you. A lot of people that get the short end of the stick in contractual agreements is due to the fact that they can't or won't read what they are signing. I don't mean to be insensitive or critical, I'm just trying to make a point..
1st year
thought I was going insane or through another tax audit. Online about did me in. Luckily my daughter knew how & helped us through it.
You're kidding, right
If a person can't even fill out a financial aid form are they ready to attend college? Taxpayers want to know.
Pretty ignorant
I can tell by that comment that you probably haven't been to college.
