A second co-defendant in a protracted gunpoint robbery-rape in South Norfolk pleaded guilty Thursday in lieu of facing a jury next week.
Jarquise Bunn, 17, was charged with 19 felonies including rape, robbery, abduction and firearm offenses. He pleaded guilty to 14 of those charges under a plea agreement and will return to Circuit Court to be sentenced on them May 16.
He was accused with two others of attempting to carjack a woman the night of Dec. 30, 2009. When they couldn't operate the vehicle’s manual transmission, they returned to brutalize the victim and a man in a laundry room and nearby apartment, according to court documents.
Lamar D. Langley, 20, pleaded guilty in November also rather than face a jury, even knowing he would receive a mandatory 50 years in prison on gun charges alone. His sentencing is Feb. 18.
A third defendant, Shaeron L. McKethan,15 at the time of the attack, gets tried as an adult Feb. 28.
