A tractor-trailer caught fire this morning while was parked at a dock at the Main Post Office at Brambleton Avenue and Church Street.
The fire was reported shortly after 4 a.m., said Battalion Chief Harry Worley, spokesman for Norfolk Fire-Rescue.
The cab of the truck, a U.S. Postal Service highway contract vehicle, was destroyed by flames, but no mail was damaged and no injuries were reported, said Fran Sansone, a postal service spokeswoman.
The post office dock also wasn’t damaged, she said.
The cab engine wasn’t running at the time of the blaze and no one was inside, Sansone said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly. The truck was towed away several hours later.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
