A 25-year-old man pleaded guilty today to two counts of distribution of child pornography.
Jakob Benjamin Lee of Norfolk faces a minimum of 5 years in prison and a maximum term of 20 years, a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Virginia said. Lee is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 12.
An investigation into Lee began in the FBI's Buffalo, N.Y., office, where an undercover agent made Internet contact with the man later identified as Lee, who was sharing more than 400 files of child pornography, according to an FBI affidavit filed in court in December.
The agent made contact with Lee, who said he had been having a sexual relationship with a boy every weekend and had had sexual relations with some 25 boys, the affidavit says.
The FBI traced his Internet address to his Norfolk apartment. Norfolk FBI agent John Moughan obtained a search warrant for the apartment and raided it on Dec. 17. Lee admitted that day to having child pornography on his computer, Moughan said in the affidavit. He was arrested on Dec. 22 and charged with distributing child pornography.
He also admitted to molesting a 9-year-old boy in Reading, Calif., in May, the affidavit says. Lee is originally from Eureka, Calif. The investigation is continuing.
Navy records say Lee enlisted in 2008 and most recently worked as a hospitalman at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center.
