Oceana Hornet pilots due home today from Pacific

VIRGINIA BEACH

Ten F/A-18C Hornet pilots are due home to Oceana Naval Air Station Saturday from a six-month deployment to the Middle East and western Pacific, the Navy announced.

The pilots are members of Strike Fighter Squadron 34, the Blue Blasters, and deployed in September with the Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group.

They completed 1,168 sorties and received the “Top Hook” award and best maintenance designation for Carrier Air Wing 2. They also conducted exercises with coalition forces and other nations including France, Bahrain, Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Oman.
