Poll: Obama ahead of the GOP field in Virginia

Posted to: Nation - World News Politico Virginia

President Barack Obama is edging out some of his leading Republican opponents in the all-important battleground state of Virginia, according to a new poll.

Obama currently leads Mitt Romney by 6 points, Newt Gingrich by 12 points and Sarah Palin by 19 points, according to the survey from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling. In 2008, he became the first Democrat to win Virginia since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964.

“Virginia is just as strong for Barack Obama right now, if not stronger, than it was in 2008,” PPP president Dean Debnam said.

Obama has a 48 percent approval rating in the state, according to the poll.

The survey of 524 Virginians has a sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.

No way near the greatest

Did it work? heck no,Obama is still viewed as a weak American president, making Obama an embarrassment to America. When you are in debt you don't go out and spend more money, you try to pay that debt off. When you spend more money than what you have, you have no one to blame but yourself, not Bush, not Hoover, not Washington. And you don't give use tax payers money for cash for clunkers and bail out money to big businesses thinking it will help. Someone explain how did Obama help the economy recover, he didn't. Have you notice that posters only said nice things about Obama, but not what he had done to improve America way of life. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can fool Obama supporters all the time.

His economic policies helped

His economic policies helped to save us from a second great depression. You view him as weak. That's your right. Many people support Obama. Many people view him as smart, pragmatic and able. He'll sweep into his second term and carry a good number of democratic congress people with him. He is actually running in 2012. It will be a whole different story than 2010. Start practicing crying and yelling nutty slogans. It is gonna be your only recourse.

If you were a farmer and your plow was broke and your brother blew all of the seed money on a shiny new six shooter and a city prostitute. You'd have to borrow money money to get a plow and some seed to start over. That's a much more appropriate metaphor.

looks like mob rule

How does many of these responses so many votes. More than I have seen on many other hot button stories. The robots who are voting must have been bused in maybe from Wisconsin. Maybe Acorn is making a comeback. If you like his policies so much then give all your money to the government and expect them to wash you, feed you, so you can sit all day and watch survivor and idol reruns. To coin a phrase RDD Liberalism = Reality deficit disorder. There are makers and takers in this world. The takers expect government to nanny them from cradle to grave.

That's weak and silly. I've

That's weak and silly. I've worked all of my adult life. I came up from humble means. I never collected welfare. I don't have one single thing I did not work for. I support Obama. It is about caring about the right things for me--like education as a driver for progress and freedom of opportunity and geniune real world morals versus some supersticious mumbo jumbo. Dismiss every liberal as a welfare king or queen if you like, but that is stupid and facile trap from where I sit. I guess it makes it easier for you to swallow the pabulum you're getting fed. Fair enough.

Voted worst president in history

"Best president I ever seen"

"President Obama is one of a kind, intelligent, literate and able to bring people together to get things done"

Example of Obama working together (The republicans can come along but they must ride in the back of the bus)
"Pres. Obama is probably one of the best president we have had"
The truth (Now that Obama was elected as president, Jimmy Carter is not the worst president)

Those statements were just too funny, you can't make that stuff up.
In America history, Obama is the only president that travel to other countries on an "Apology tour" in 100 days he apologized in 3 continents in what he viewed as sins of America and actions of past presidents.
