Police have arrested two people in an attempted robbery and assault at a wig store.
On May 17, a man and woman with a toddler entered the Ace’s Beauty and Wig Supply at 3972 Holland Road, police said. The woman then tried to shoplift a $75 wig.
When an employee tried to stop her, the woman pushed her into a display case. Another employee tried to intervene, but was assaulted by the male, according to a news release from police. The male suspect also assaulted the female employee.
The female suspect then threw the wig on the ground and left along with the male and toddler, police said.
Local TV stations aired footage of the assault, leading to several Crime Solvers tips that helped police identify the store’s assailants.
On Wednesday evening, police arrested Shanice Andrea Bunton, 21, and Jack Xavier-O’Malley Lewis, 24, at their home in the 3900 block of Water Oak Road, in connection to the incident.
Bunton faces charges of attempted robbery and destruction of property and is being held without bond at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.
Lewis is charged with two counts of simple assault and is being held on $2,500 secure bond.
They’re both scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.
