Christmas & Easter have nothing to do with our heritage either, they are also illegitimate celebrations.

why is this day so important to us? It has nothing to do with "our" heritage. It is an illegitmate celebration.

Last Cinco de Mayo I was in

Last Cinco de Mayo I was in Puerto Vallarta and was surprised there were NO such celebrations going on, and when I asked about it, they acted as tho I were crazy, as tho Americans were the only ones to do it.

Agreed --- I've been in Mexico several times around May 5th, and have only seen the smallest of celebrations one time, in Veracruz (and that was a few days early, to coincide with the weekend).

There's an article in today's (Mexico City) News that might give us all a little insight into why Mexican-Americans get so excited, and Mexicans don't (link is: http://www.thenews.com.mx/index.php/opinion/O02-9731.htm). Personally, any reason to have a party is OK with me...
