Two Virginia Beach residents have been appointed to the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, a state panel that regulates seafood harvests and shoreline ecosystems, Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Friday.
Whitt G. Sessoms III, a developer and president of Cape Development and Real Estate Co., and Joseph C. Palmer Jr., a waterman who works mostly on the Lynnhaven River and owns Joey's Crab Co., will join the commission next month.
The two are replacing J.T. Holland, an insurance agent from the Eastern Shore, and Ernest Bowden, a waterman from Chincoteague. Both were appointed to the panel in 2003 by then-Gov. Mark Warner.
The commission, headquartered in Newport News, meets monthly to set fishing quotas and policies, consider permits for shoreline developments and decide how to spend license money for scientific research, boat ramps and other public projects.

A develepor to consider
A develepor to consider permits for shoreline developments. Never was there a more classic example of the fox guarding the henhouse. This is exactly what I expected from this faux leader posing as a governor.
McDonnell has done nothing to improve the Commonwealth of Virginia. Here's a start Bob, as long as we are on the subject of the VRMC let's give them control over the menhadden fisheries. They govern every other marine fishery except this one alone. Until you have the guts to stand out for just one common sense issue, one such as this that would greatly improve our lives and regain a toe hold on our greatest of resources, you and your Va. House of Delegates shall remain woefully tainted and corrupt.
A little disgruntled? I
A little disgruntled? I think our current governor has done more for Virginia and in particular the Hampton Roads area than our past governor ever did.

Tidewater, not Hampton Roads.
