Hurricane preparedness tax holiday ends today

Today is the final day of the state’s annual Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday.

Through today, items used to prepare for emergencies or to survive during a storm may be purchased without sales tax.

The items include weather radios, batteries, bottled water, plastic sheeting, rope, duct tape and other supplies that cost $60 or less per item, according to the state Department of Taxation. Other items, including portable generators, power cords and inverters that cost $1,000 or less per item, also are exempt.
