Norfolk sub named best vessel in Atlantic Fleet

Posted to: Military Norfolk

The Norfolk-based fast-attack submarine Boise has been named the 2010 Battenberg Cup winner, only the third submarine to ever win the award.

Once the trophy of an annual race between British and American sailors, the Battenberg Cup now recognizes the best all-around ship in the U.S. Atlantic Fleet.

Among other achievements last year, the Boise operated in two theaters, steamed 38,000 nautical miles, reached all of its operational objectives and had zero missed mission days.
